I love trees. Walking in nature is my favorite pastime next to hand-turning on the lathe. For me, bowl making is more about the tree than the maker. A simple clean form creates a window into the heart of the forest  and reveals the hidden beauty within.

Ironically I was trimming overhanging tree limbs when I fractured my ankle which led to taking time off from my carpentry business and began my bowl turning adventure. I have been a woodworker my whole life but when I found bowl turning on the lathe I knew this was the art I had been searching for and there was no turning back.

I love carpentry and have done everything from building houses to cabinets to custom furniture but nothing honored and revealed the wood like the lathe. Just working with real wood from fallen trees that I cut up and dry is so different from working with kiln dried lumber from the lumber yard. I have had the opportunity to learn about the local trees and find the amazing beauty that was all around me hidden just beneath the bark.

Making Wooden Bowls is a wonderful way to share my love for nature with the world.
